On 8 and 9 October 2026, the Maison des Sciences de Gestion of Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas will host an international conference marking the fiftieth anniversary of the first European Waste Framework Directive (75/442/EEC). Over two days, legal scholars, management researchers and social scientists will bring their perspectives to bear on half a century of European waste governance, its institutional trajectories, its comparative national implementations, and the tensions between law, local public action and the ecological transition. Thirty-seven papers from thirteen countries (law, management, social sciences) will be presented, alongside round tables bringing together practitioners from local authorities, producer responsibility organisations and European institutions. A gala dinner and a pre-event of the ISWA Working Group on Governance complete the programme.
